Symptoms
- Pain profile
- Joint profile (mechanism of injury, clicking, locking, swelling)
- Functional profile
Signs
- Trendalenburg gait - dropping hip and shoulder of 1 site (bony lesions)
- Antalgic gait - avoiding pain
- Patella tap (effusion)
- Lachman test (ACL) - better than ant drawer test
Investigations
Bedside
- Aspiration (fat globules present = fracture)
- X ray (fat/fluid level = fracture)
Treatment
- MCL usually heal on its own
- Physiotherapy
Non-conservative
- Surgery (instability in ADL)
