- Weight est (developed ctry)
- <5y = 2(age+5)
- >5y = 4(age)
- Weight est (developing ctry)
- weight = 2(age+4)
- BP rule of thumb: Systolic = 100 + age
- Teething will not cause fever >38.5°C
- Perthes disease = flattened femoral head on xray
- Peripheral cyanosis after swimming is normal in young children
- HR ↑ with inspiration is normal
- Systolic murmur is normal, happens in 50% of children. INVESTIGATE diastolic murmurs
- Use Ceftriaxone as empirical abx. If not available, use benzyl penicillin.
- Avoid Amoxycillin IM due to rash risk
- Meningioma, neurofibroma and glioblastoma are all supratentorial
- Ewing sarcoma usually affects shaft of long bones
- Greek have higher incidences of thalassaemia due to genes
- Foetal haemoglobin higher affinity to O2 than adult
- Projectile vomitus --> always think hypertrophic pyloric stenosis until proven otherwise
