- Hypothyroidism
- Vitamin B 1 deficiency
- Vitamin B 12 deficiency
- Normal pressure hydrocephalus
- Space occupying lesion
- Pseudodementia (depression presenting as dementia)

- Alzheimer’s disease
- Vascular dementia
- Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB)
- Frontotemporal dementia
Less common
- Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease
- Huntington’s disease
- Parkinson’s disease
- Head trauma
