- Compulsions take >1h every day
- Affects normal function/ ADL
Epidemiology
- Lifetime prevalence rates 2-3%; M=F
- FHx
Aetiology

Treatment
Non-Pharmacological
- CBT: desensitization, flooding, thought stopping, implosion therapy, aversive conditioning
- Clomipramine, SSRis (higher doses and longer treatment needed than for treatment of depression, i.e. up to 8-12 wks)
- Atypical and typical anti psychotics - risperidone, haloperidol
Prognosis
- Tends to be refractory and chronic
