Midgut Rotation
Definition
Midgut malrotated during embryological development, prone to volvulus upon its pedicled mesentery —> bowel obstruction
normal: 270degrees anticlockswise rotation
Clinical Features
dark green villous vomiting in neonatal period, abdo distension, PR bleeding, can also be as symptomatic for years before acute presentation
Investigations
Imaging: abdo Xray, upper GI series
Management
Resuscitation, NGT for decompression, refer to paeds/ paeds surg, SURGERY!
